Songwriters in the Round
Lisa Redfern brings three talented Maine songwriters to perform in an intimate, unplugged setting in Frontier's theatre for an evening of compelling songs and stories:
Singer-Songwriter Ted DeMille writes deceptively simple, infinitely listenable original folk music. Bluegrass, folk, blues, and rock 'n roll form the foundation upon which Ted's carefully crafted songs rest. You are likely to notice nods and references to sources as varied as children's nursery rhymes, Chuck Berry, Bill Monroe, and Bob Dylan. A powerful and emotional singer and guitarist, Ted knows how to deliver a song.
Heather Pierson is an award-winning performer, composer, and songwriter in nearly every genre of music. Her boundless creativity runs the gamut from soulful narrative ballads to New Orleans jazz to her unique brand of emotive instrumental piano to Native American chants. Honest, heartfelt, joyful. "Her hands float on and above the piano keys with the ease of a longtime player; it's as if it's as second nature as breathing." Portland Press Herald
Originally from Saint Louis Missouri, John Schindler was influenced early on by that town's rhythm and blues and his Oklahoma mother's singing. This funky start was drastically tempered by a nine-year stint in a Catholic seminary where silence and Gregorian chant were his daily bread. After leaving the brotherhood, and armed only with his vow of poverty, John moved to New England and pursued the path of an itinerant musician, playing in sundry bands and bad barrooms. It was during this time, he realized, that his audience could not understand Latin.
