Club Entrepreneur Duluth: Drone Technology - The Future is Now
Get to Know Club E - Duluth, featuring a short presentation by Rick Brimacomb, founder of Club Entrepreneur Minneapolis/St. Paul. Following Rick's presentation, we welcome Todd Colten, Chief Aeronautical Engineer of Sentera.
Drone Technology - The Future is Now
Today, drones are a popular topic in the media and in several industries. Like other technologies initially developed for military applications, drones are quickly becoming commercialized and commoditized. Sales of commercial drones are exceeding market predictions and consumers are finding more and more ways to leverage drones beyond what anyone imagined. Uses range from agriculture and infrastructure inspection to wedding photography and film production. In agriculture, industry leaders are using specialized sensors attached under drones to see wavelengths of light invisible to the human eye. This imagery and data can provide growers with a view of crop health and help diagnose growth concerns. Since a single drone flight can produce hundreds of images, a data management system is key to ensure imagery can be organized, retrieved, analyzed, shared and integrated with expanding farm IT infrastructures. Software tools exist today to support this need. Looking forward, opportunities exist to create value at every stage of the process by developing new and better drones, cameras, analysis tools, data management systems and services.
