Evening of Traditional Beverages: Punch!
Don your party threads and commune with Homewood Museum and Woodberry Kitchen around the flowing bowl! A thriving punch-drinking culture once existed throughout the English-speaking world. Bowls were shared in taverns and clubs, as well as the home. And this periodroughly from the 1670s through the 1850s has become a point of inspiration for a growing number of American bars.
Craft mixologists from around Baltimore have created three new, vintage-inspired recipes for this special event and will be on hand to talk to guests. Each punch will be matched by Woodberry Kitchen with dishes based on seasonal foods from local growers. Remember, this isn't your grandmother's punch (cheap champagne, ginger ale, orange sherbet). It's your great-great-great-great-great grandmother's punch (strong spirits, sugar, fresh citrus, spices). Rest assured that, while these mixtures contain plenty of rum, brandy and other bracing liquors, they are remarkably balanced and not overly sweet.
