Bay Area Flamenco Festival presents Dance Workshops with JUANA AMAYA Direct from Spain!
...one of the most powerful and charismatic dancers in modern day flamenco. (Flamenco-World.com)
Don't miss this exciting opportunity to study with Juana Amaya! First time in the US since 2007 and first time teaching in the Bay Area!
From the Gastor clan of flamenco Gypsies of Moron de la Frontera, Juana Amaya was a disciple of dancer Pepe Rios and started dancing with her cousin Ramon Barrull (Jairo's father) before going on to join Mario Maya's company as a lead dancer. Internationally acclaimed, she has toured throught Europe and Asia with Paco Peña, Joaquín Cortés and Antonio Canales. In 2003 she and Farruquito toured the US presenting their show "Por Derecho" in major performing arts centers throughout the country, including UC Berkeley's Zellerbach Hall. She later returned with her own company to festivals in Irvine and Albuquerque. A featured performer at Sevilla's Bienal de Flamenco, Juana Amaya and her daughter Nazaret Reyes continue to represent an up-to-date take on the baile of Moron de la Frontera on stages around the world.
