The Ume Group's Lysistrata Project - Open Rehearsal & Wine Reception
Join The Ume Group for a fun and informal OPEN REHEARSAL at their space on Manhattan's Upper West Side, followed by a wine reception and mingling with the company. (Wine generously provided by Frederick Wildman and Sons.)
Under development since May 2015, The Ume Group's "Lysistrata Project" combines acrobatics, clown, butoh & storytelling to create a new, compelling version of Aristophanes' classic anti-war sex comedy.
The play is scheduled to receive a formal workshop production February 26 - March 12 at Grace & St. Paul's Church (New York, NY) and will receive its world premiere at The Ume Group's 5-Year Anniversary NY Season at The Irondale Center in Brooklyn, NY between August 3 and 13, 2016.

---ABOUT THE UME GROUP--- The Ume Group is a New York - based dance / physical theatre ensemble, dedicated to sharing traditions and developing new work. We believe that a good artist is constantly learning, creating, teaching, and performing. We are hailed by critics for our "commanding, physically impressive performances" (The Village Voice) and "risky physical vulnerability" (nytheatre.com) which basically means... we do a lot of handstands and funky butoh stuff.
