AUP Presents: "Nevermore"
Greenfield-based Acting Up Productions (AUP) will present their first musical "Nevermore", May 18-27, 2012. "Nevermore" is based on the life of Edgar Allan Poe and his relationships with the many women that shaped his life and his writing. With lyrics adapted from the writings of Poe, Grace Barnes authored the book and Matt Conner composed the music.
"Nevermore" explores the end of Poe's (played by Paul Nicely) life in a suspended reality as he remembers and is haunted by the women he has loved. Poe's mother (Meaghan Sands) died when Poe was very young and he searches through his entire life for a mother's love. Poe looks for love in his childhood sweetheart, Elmira (Chelsea Anderson), his 13-year old cousin-bride Virginia (Abigail Wright), Virginia's mother Muddy (Leah DeWalt), and in countless whores (represented by Arianne Villareal). Songs include "Evening Star", "Annabelle Lee", and of course, "The Raven." With hauntingly beautiful melodies, Nevermore breathes new life into Poe's work and explores a twisted true-life tale that is as bizarre as his classic stories of the macabre. This imaginative musical is directed and designed by R. Brian Noffke, assisted by Elizabeth Williams and music directed by Paige Scott. Anni Proctor will stage manage and design the makeup and Linda Rowand is in charge of costume design. It will be presented at Theatre on the Square's Stage Two, May 18, 19, 25, and 26 at 8:00 p.m. and May 20 and 27 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 reserved and $18 at the door. You may reserve tickets by calling the Box Office at 317-207-0171 or online here.
