The Homestead Tour, Orcas Island Garden Club
A tour of five farms and gardens on the east side of beautiful Orcas Island, with emphasis on beauty, history, and the sustainable culture of fruit, flowers, vegetables, herbs and (some) livestock. Three of the homesteads date to the 1880's. The other two are more recent homesteads, also committed to sustainable horticulture. Included in the tour are lectures on history and horticultural methods including seed saving, composting, and elimination of noxious plants.
You may purchase "Tour only" or "Tour plus box lunch" tickets. Box lunch is turkey, fontina chees, lettuce and tomato sandwich with pasta salad and turkey. Pick up at Cafe Olga in the Artworks Building, Olga.
Tour is 11-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24. You may attend either or both days.
