The New Black Eagle Jazz Band
What do you say about a band that has been making music for nearly forty years, has played all over Europe, has played alongside jazz greats Claude Hopkins, Milt Hinton, Doc Cheatham, Benny Waters, Chester Zardis, Danny Barker and Kid Thomas Valentine, and still finds time to play local concerts in intimate settings? Let's just say they are the real deal -- traditional jazz from the early New Orleans style, Chicago jazz of the 1920's, 1930's small band jazz, the revival of the 1940's and 1950's, and original pieces written by the band. Their repertoire of over 600 numbers includes Scott Joplin rags, spirituals and gospel music, old pop tunes from the start of the 20th century to the 1960's, and of course, blues. Some say that jazz is the true American roots music homegrown music come hear for yourself. THE NEW BLACK EAGLE JAZZ BAND at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, Saturday, May 5, at 8:00 P.M.
