Bosnian Sevdah and Dance
Sevdah is the traditional music genre of urban town centers of old Bosnia and Herzegovina. This performance will feature sevdalinke sung by Muhamed Kocan, Rasima Alisic Klisturic, and Hajrudin Hajric. Bosnian performers now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. They will be joined by Azra Hrnjic who comes from a musical family and since the age of four, music has been her passion. She studied and played violin through her childhood for 18 years. Azra has performed in many concerts in Sarajevo, won singing talent competitions, and recorded songs from many genres including the sevdah song - Moj Behare. Her singing performances and artistic excelence have earned her respect rom American and Balkan communites around the world. The accoumpanying band will include Dzevad Zeric - accordion, Dzenan Gacanovic - key board and arrangements, and Barbara Deutsch - clarinet. The Bosnian dance ensemble, Mladost Bosne, will perform. There will be traditional food and dancing.
