Tickets are $25 advance / $30 at the door, and go on sale November 26 at the following locations: Four-Eyed Frog Bookstore and The Sea Trader, Gualala; The Record Market & Cafe, Point Arena; Tangents in Fort Bragg; and online at www.brownpapertickets.com.
The Brubeck Brothers Quartet is an exciting jazz group featuring two members of one of Americas most accomplished musical families, Daniel Brubeck and Chris Brubeck. Chris and Dan Brubeck had the unique privilege of growing up listening to, studying with, and eventually playing alongside some of the great jazz legends of our time. Add to this heritage the fact that Chris and Dans musical tastes were forged in the 60s, a stylistically innovative musical decade, and you have an exciting combination of musical elements to draw upon. This eclectic background contributes to the Quartet's ability to effortlessly combine the genres of straight-ahead jazz, funk, and the Brubeck tradition of playing in odd time signatures.
Chris Brubeck is a multi-talented instrumentalist who has earned rave reviews on electric bass and bass trombone. Remarkably, Chris is also a pianist and an award-winning composer/arranger whose works have been recorded, televised, or performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, The Boston Pops Orchestra, and the symphonies in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston, and San Francisco. Chris was a member of The Dave Brubeck Quartet for 10 years and recorded over a dozen albums with that group.
Since his first professional recordings at age 11, Daniel Brubeck has developed into an awesome drummer. His innovative solo excursions on the drum set have inspired audiences to give standing ovations from The Hollywood Bowl to Carnegie Hall, Newport and jazz festivals all over the world. Dans original drumming style and distinctive solos have earned him the respect of many critics worldwide. Hes toured the international music circuit as the leader of his own group, The Dolphins, and with The Dave Brubeck Quartet.
Critics agree: If there is such a thing as born musicians then surely the sons of famed jazz pianist Dave Brubeck qualify . . . . The Courier-Journal.
