Beyond Basic Burlesque: Potpourri Edition
We're doing something different his month! Each week we will offer a different class from one of our expert instructors. Take just one or all of them! We know the holidays are right around the corner and everyone is busy. This is a great way to expand your burlesque knowledge without making a multi-week commitment.
All classes are on Mondays in November from 8:00pm-9:00pm.
Price per class: $30 in advance, $35 at the door, $100 in advance for all 4 classes.
Nov. 9: Booking Your Burlesque Act
If you don't get paid no matter how punctual or polished you are you are, by definition, an amateur. This 60 minute class will cover the secrets of marketing yourself, setting your rates, contract negotiation, how to get booked, and the all-important art of getting the re-booking. An essential class for anyone who wants to earn money performing burlesque! Please bring any sales collateral (business cards, advertising fliers, branded give-aways, etc.) that you may have.
Instructor: Scratch
Nov. 16: Creating Creative Choreography
Often the most challenging part of choreographing a new routine can be filling the time between each clothing remove. In this class, you will participate in a series of movement exercises, including making use of space and levels, improvising to music, and the power of facial expressions. Each student may bring one piece of music and we will incorporate it into the class playlist. This class is sure to get your creative juices flowing!
Instructor: Devora Darling
Nov. 23: Terrific Turns
Love strutting around the stage, but want to heat things up with a little dance flair? This workshop will teach you the basics of dance turning technique. We will cover both turning in place and traveling turns. The class will conclude with a discussion of how to incorporate turns into your burlesque routine. No prior dance experience necessary.
Instructor: Brigitte Bisoux
Nov. 30: Stalking the Stocking
Stockings make our legs look sleek and lovely, but it's so exciting when they come off! Discover different types of hosiery and the best types for removing. Learn how to gracefully remove your shoes, elegantly peel off your stockings, and master the one-handed garter pop. Students should bring thigh-high stockings (or tall socks) and (optional) a garter belt. Wear clothing that makes it easy to show off your legs.
Instructor: Miss Mina
