The Children's Shakespeare Theatre's Festival of One-Acts
Festival of One-Acts to Open at Nyack Center in January January 9, 2016 from 11:00am to 8:00pm Four short plays, One fun-filled day!
The Children's Shakespeare Theatre (CST) presents a festival of one-act plays featuring plays by Moliere, Shakespeare and Thomas Middleton. One of these, As You Like It, will be touring to Stratford, Ontario when CST represents the USA at the 14th Annual World Festival of Children's Theater in June of 2016.
The festival kicks off with an all-day celebration at The Nyack Center on Depew Ave in Nyack. There will be a performance of each of the four plays during the day with concurrent events, vendors and food throughout the day. There will also be a special performance by The Sonnet Man, Devon Glover, who has been a featured performer at festivals around the world and who also appeared on the Today Show. The event showcases projects by four directors using 38 young actors to tell stories of love, disguise, trickery and ultimately great fun!
Food provided by Noco Catering as well as other local bakers and caterers.
Patrons are invited to drop in at any time, see a play or two, and buy local wares and food. Patrons will receive an event bracelet so they can come and go throughout the day. Tickets are $20 general admission. The ticket price includes all plays plus activities for children, The Sonnet Man performance, and many other performances by musicians and other artists.
The Plays: The Forced Marriage, by Moliere; The Learned Ladies, by Moliere; The Roaring Girl, by Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker; and As You Like It, a Beatles-inspired musical, by William Shakespeare.
