November One Acts: Does This Woman Have a Name? by Theresa Rebeck, The War Room by Luca Perito and Summer Slim, and Jack's Last Night in Town by Meghan Brown
Does This Woman Have a Name? Mel and Sarah have a lucrative enterprise. Mel writes and Sarah performs sexually explicit phone fantasies. Mel hopes her serious fiction will eventually sell. In the meantime, this pays the bills much to the consternation of her boyfriend. Mel's scripts become more and more literary, but Sarah's callers are not interested in metaphors. This amusing satire, a favorite with festival judges, does contain some strong language.
The War Room While the clock is ticking to make her sister's engagement dinner, Katie and Dean's chances at getting out of the house on time seem doomed from the start. As a series of unfavorable events begin to unfold, they unexpectedly find themselves having to face the state of their own relationship before they've even reached the front door.
Jack's Last Night in Town On the eve of parting ways, potentially forever, two would-be lovers find themselves caught in an endless loop of things left unsaid. In turns heart-wrenching and hilarious, the characters navigate a world both surreal and prosaic as they attempt to find the right words -- and each other.
