Qualcomm Stadium Architectural Tour
Qualcomm Stadium is a San Diego sports icon, but many locals don't know or appreciate its architectural significance. On November 5th from 3:00-5:00 PM the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of Architects will host a special, one-time architectural tour of this award-winning modernist landmark. Original lead architect Frank Hope, Jr., FAIA will participate in the 2-hour tour along with architect Jack Carpenter, FAIA and architectural historian David Marshall, AIA. Attendees will see time-lapse footage of the stadium's construction in 1966-67 and will tour the press box, locker rooms and field while they hear stories about how the dramatic design was created and executed.
