In celebration of the 10-year anniversary American Sideshow: An Encyclopedia of History's Most Wondrous and Curiously Strange Performers (Tarcher/Penguin), author Marc Hartzman will describe his experiences in making the book, share never-before-seen photos, and discuss sideshow-related stories he has since worked on, including reuniting a bearded lady with her long-lost son, helping conjoined twins raise money for a custom-designed home, and writing about the world's first pregnant sword swallower.
American Sideshow celebrates a range of performers, from giants and little people to conjoined twins, armless wonders and more through intimate biographies paired with stunning photographs. Approximately two hundred performers from the past one hundred and sixty years are featured, giving readers a comprehensive and sometimes astonishing look into the history of the American sideshow
