Improv Fundamentals I
Crown Point Community Theatre presents Improv Fundamentals I: an 8 week class with a showcase performance at the end. Students are taught short form improvisation In this class, students are taught some of the essential skills of Improv including: learning agreement and support in ensemble work, getting over stage-fright and being in the moment, and make big choices through group exercises and basic improvised scenes and games. At the end of the 8 week class, the students participate in a showcase and demonstrate skills learned. New skills are taught each week in a fun, safe environment. Laughter, excitement, and discovery awaits YOU in this class! Classes size is limited.
Class dates are the following Tuesdays from 7-9 PM 10/27 11/3 11/10 11/17 12/1 12/8 12/15 12/29
No class 11/24 (Thanksgiving week) & 12/22 (Christmas week). Showdate will be in January.

Nelson Velazquez has been involved in improvisational theatre for the last 12 years. He's currently the head of the improv program at CPCT and directs & performs with the improv house ensemble Makeshift Up. He is also currently the Artistic Director of Salsation Theatre Company, a 16 year old Latino theatre company specializing in sketch and improv comedy. He currently serves as head musical director for Los Improviachis, an improvised musical mariachi band. He has trained and performed at Second City Training Center, The Annoyance Theatre, and ComedySportz and has performed with various groups across the country such as Second City's musical improv house team Infinite Sundays, Wavelength, Inc. - a company who teachers educators to use improv in their classrooms, and is currently playing improvised hip-hop show RAPture and his two-man team Impro EspaƱol.
Nelson has completed The Second City Training Center's Improv Conservatory and Musical Improv programs, has workshopped with improv legends such as Brian Posen(Cupid Has A Heart On), Laura Hall (Whose Line Is It Anyway), and Al Samuels (Baby Wants Candy). He's also been featured in commercials and independent films.
He currently hosts The Musical Chairs Podcast, an improvised, humorous commentary on popular music."
