Rumi - Dancing with the Beloved

Friday, December 18, 2015 7:00-9:30 p.m.

An evening of remembrance through: live music, sacred poetry (read from original work and language "Persian") singing, circle dances, zhikr & whirling, multi-media and Love. This gathering at the beautiful mountain temple known as the Starhouse (10 minutes west of Boulder) is offered to all lovers of Mevlana Rumi's mystical poetry and drawn to celebrate that love through the arts and community devotion. The evening will be highly participatory. This event will be hosted and facilitated by Timothy and Pouria assisted by guests musicians.

Timothy Dobson was initiated on his Sufi path at the Starhouse 22 years ago. He attended Rumi's Urs observances in Konya, Turkei last December returning home with new friends and lasting impressions of the reverence with which this beloved Sufi saint is held by pilgrims from around the world. A minister at the Starhouse, Timothy has facilitated ceremony and taught the Dances of Universal Peace there since 1990.

Pouria Montazeri, a Persian born and native speaker of Farsi, came to his Sufi path as a teenager. His lifelong passion for the Persian poets lead him to write, produce and direct many films including one short film on Rumi entitled, "Shams & Rumi: The Fragrance of Axis Mundi" that enjoyed the favor of audiences and won awards when shown at international film festivals. Pouria is now turning his focus back to his love of Rumi and plans to offer an in depth study group on Rumi's life and work in the new year.

Cost of the event $22 through Brown Paper Tickets. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $25.
