First Inversion, a new vocal ensemble in Rochester, New York, brings you unique programming featuring many of Rochester's finest vocal artists, both professional and volunteer. Now in its second season, First Inversion continues to offer a unique selection of engaging choral music for diverse audiences. Our first concert features the Rochester premieres of works by two Baroque composers Antonio Vivaldi, and Johann Adolf Hasse. The dramatic flare and splendid virtuosity of Vivaldi's Dixit Dominus, RV 807 and Hasse's Miserere in C Minor provide a feast for the senses. Both works will be performed with orchestra. Our January concert presents Herbert Howells' magnificent Requiem for double choir and other heavenly selections by acclaimed British composers. In April, we present works by women composers, ranging from Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann to Libby Larsen and Abbie Betinis.
Your purchase of a season ticket now enables us to plan ahead effectively and provide the most engaging concert experience for our community. First Inversion is founded on a fair-trade model with minimal overhead and Rochester's talented musicians in mind. 83% of your ticket purchase price will directly support the livelihood of the artists involved in bringing these concerts to life. In addition to our standard adult and student ticket prices, you have the option of naming your own price to attend our concerts. If it is within your means, and you believe in what we are doing, I hope you will consider becoming a supporting subscriber and naming your season ticket price at $75 ($25 per concert) or more. If standard ticket prices won't fit into your budget, but you believe in the power of the choral art to build community and foster deepening connection between people, I hope you will join us. Please become a season subscriber at whatever price will work for you ($15 minimum).
