Based on an urban legend, What Lurks tells the story of five political prisoners during the second World War who were quarantined and put through a series of sleep deprivation tests. Drawing inspiration from Mikhail Bahktin's writings on the carnivalesque and grotesque body, What Lurks explores the madness that waits below the surface, and what happens when it is finally set free.
