Dueling Pianos
The Nordic Hall has been home to two pianos for nearly two years one belonging to Suzuki School of Newton, and the other, the Center's own Steinway B, installed in January of 2014. Hear these two instruments in a special "dueling pianos" performance with pianists Hankus Netsky and Daniel Padgett in this unique concert co-presented by the SCC and the Suzuki School of Newton.

A multi-instrumentalist, composer, and scholar, Hankus Netsky teaches improvisation and Jewish music. He is the founder and director of the Klezmer Conservatory Band, an internationally renowned Yiddish music ensemble. Netsky has previously taught Jewish music at Hebrew College and Wesleyan University, and has lectured extensively in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. ABOUT DANIEL PADGETT
Daniel Padgett enjoys an active and varied career in music. He is frequently engaged as an accompanist and collaborative pianist throughout the Boston area. Spring of 2016 will see Daniel collaborating with Ronan Tynan, of famed singing group The Irish Tenors, for a recording and series of performances. An accomplished improviser, he can be found playing in jazz combos during services at Old South Church in Copley Square and creating spontaneous piano compositions during services at other Boston-area churches. Daniel recently made his debut on iTunes and Spotify with the world premiere recording of Paul Sayed's set of piano miniatures Seven Morsels in the Form of a Persimmon. His original compositions have been featured on Sirius XM satellite radio and in numerous podcasts. He also plays drums in Boston-based indie-rock band Whistle Jacket and writes his own singer-songwriter material. When not engaged in musical endeavors Daniel is invested in running JD Productions, a video production company with an emphasis on musical subjects featuring a talented all-high school staff.
