This event has sold out. An extra date has been added, however, on Sunday 29th November: www.newcastlecastle.co.uk/silents-castle-nosferatu-1922-0
Now, here's something you can really sink your teeth into. Newcastle Castle is pleased to announce that we will be screening one of the scariest films of all time - F.W. Murnau's black and white silent classic Nosferatu (1922) - in the atmospheric Great Hall of the Castle Keep.
We are already hosting Castle of the Dead!, a cult horror film night, on Thursday 29th October, as part of our Halloween programme. This late-night event has proven so popular that we couldn't resist programming in another terrifying gothic classic.
In this first-ever screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, a simple real-estate transaction leads an intrepid businessman deep into the superstitious heart of Transylvania. There he encounters the otherworldly Count Orlok (portrayed by the legendary Max Schreck) in his dilapidated ancient castle...
Tickets cost £4 (plus booking fee/ £5 on the door), or £2 with a valid ticket for the Castle during the day. The film will be followed by a short additional feature which will stay a secret until the night of the event. Strictly ages 15+.
Please note: The Castle Keep is a Scheduled Ancient Monument with many stairs, therefore the Great Hall where this event takes place is unfortunately inaccessible to wheelchair users.
