International Heritage Music Series - Stämbandet

Catch a glimpse of the irresistible atmosphere of a Nordic Yule. Vocal Ensemble Stämbandet offers a window to the songs and lore of winter in Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. Join Stämbandet for an evening of song, Lucia procession, and a narrative of the Nordic celebrations of the season.

Stämbandet is an a capella group consisting of nine singers and a band. Directed by arranger and composer Allen Levines, this Nordic vocal ensemble performs authentic songs from Iceland, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Founded originally by Swedes over 30 years ago, Stämbandet continues to enchant crowds with repertoire rich in harmony and rhythms that dance. Stämbandet performs for groups, celebrations, weddings, and communities in the New England area or beyond!

Stämbandet is being presented as part of the International Heritage Music Series. Based on the idea that music is inherent to strengthening community in cultures around the world, the series will celebrate regional music and dance traditions.
