About Joseph Akins: Dr. Joseph Akins (pronounced "Ache-inns") lives a dual life as both a piano artist and a college professor.
To date, he has released four solo albums, A Piano Christmas (2011), Spirit Touch (2009), Masterpeace (2007), and Keys to the Heart (1997), which have received extensive airplay and favorable reviews worldwide. His heartfelt playing is often compared to that of Jim Brickman and David Lanz, but the blending of his southern roots and jazz background has created a distinct sound of his own.
Over the last decade, Joseph has been touring the United States performing in churches, homes and performance halls, often sharing the stage with venerable piano artists such as David Lanz, Liz Story and David Nevue.
In addition, he is an award-winning associate professor at the prestigious Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University. He received his Doctorate of Education in 2006.
