This November the sacred cow of Aristophanes is drop-kicked into hamburger!
Fury Theatre presents Lysistrata--a modern farcical adaptation by Twitch Phoenix, directed by Emily Brantz.
In this bold comic interpretation, we join the elusive revolutionary Lysistrata as she assembles a rag-tag group of wild women and leads a sex strike against the warring foolhardy men of Greece. In Athens, the civil war has given rise to martial law--headed by the madcap Magistrate Jackboot. Luckily for the women of Greece, Lyssie has more than enough tricks up her skirt to keep the magistrate, his guards, and the frustrated soldiers of Greece running in circles.
Fury toes the line of propriety before swan diving right over it and into the deep end in this absurd new version of a 2500 year old tale. The saucy quips, clever stage combat and healthy dose of punk rock attitude will keep you cheering for the female revolution! Don't you want a "peace" of this?
Due to strong language and adult content, Lysistrata is not recommended for audiences under the age of 18.
