In an odd way the northeast Florida swamps and marshes where composer/guitarist Walter Parks grew up remind him of New York City where he now lives. In both, a well-needed and reassuring tranquility is always there for those who seek beyond the ever-present tension. Swamp by Chandelier, Walter Parks' new one-man solo guitar production is a soundtrack to the swamp a metaphor for everyday life, in celebration of beauty and edge living side-by-side. Swamp by Chandelier is mostly a presentation of Parks' own compositions interwoven with a few related and inspired exceptions. After researching the Library of Congress' historic music collection Parks transcribed and modernized the hollers and reels of the "cracker" folk who lived in the Okefenokee Swamp before it became a national wildlife refuge. Also, in tribute to Woodstock legend Richie Havens, with whom Walter played for 10 years, Parks gives new life to a few acoustic classics.
