BUTCHER BOY, GREG MCKILLOP, LISA/LIZA, AND MAL DEVISA
Maine's resident purveyors of all things big and avant, Butcher Boy top a scrupulous bill of New England originals, eccentrics, and experimentalists. Worcester's native son and relentless road warrior Greg McKillop is known to many as the former frontman and leader of the 140 member cluster-folk behemoth Speaker of the Dead. Solo, he imbues his witchy folk-rock with the grace of a traveling bard. Portland psych-folk songstress Lisa/Liza has shared the SPACE stage with indie folk giants such Angel Olson and Kaki King, comfortably holding her own and enchanting unsuspecting audiences. Her latest release on local imprint Pretty Purgatory, The First Museum has seen wide praise for its elegant, free-floating melodies and distinctively spacious songwriting. Western Mass multi-instrumentalist Mal Devisa is known for her soulful and captivating performances, blending loops of vocals, bass, saxophone, and percussion with jazz, r&b, indie-rock and folk sensibilities all into a melting pot entirely of her own. This will be her well-deserved SPACE debut.
