Event
Truly Tiny Bubbles: A very special Champagne event, with great food
Champagne is home to the greatest surge in quality and intrigue currently taking place in the entire world of wine. A generation of younger growers has wrested the category from the consuming grip of the Big Houses (you know 'em), working on a very small scale to refocus our attention on the incredible terroirs of Champagne. Many would argue this is the most extraordinary wine region on the planet.
There are no wines more thrilling to drink and learn about than those of Champagne. At this event, we will be joined by Bernard and Veronique Dumont, of R. Dumont et Fils in the Aube, and David Bourdaire of Bourdaire-Gallois in the Massif Saint Thierry.
Bourdaire specializes in the pinot meunier grape for the Brut, which will make for fascinating comparison with his chardonnay-based Blanc de Blanc and third-each blend in the 2004 Cuvée Millésime. Dumont's focus is on pinot noir, which expresses in thrilling variety through the Brut Nature, Brut Rosé, and Douce Cuvée.
We will present the wines in a casual seminar-style, within the intimate confines of Rosemont's bakery. Each wine will be paired with magnificent small-plates food, prepared by Rosemont's new chef, Bryan Dame! Bourdaire and the Dumonts will be joined by our dear friends, known to some of you who have attended past dinners, Ed Addiss and Barbara Selig of the Wine Traditions import company.
Rosemont's food and wine events in the bakery are some of the most hotly anticipated in Portland. Come celebrate fantastic wines, delicious food, great people, compelling stories and the lasting pleasures of true community.
