Edible and Medicinal Plants of the North Bay
Have you ever tasted a roasted bay nut, nettle pesto, or sautéed milk thistle greens? Come explore the world of edible plants found at Pepperwood and throughout Sonoma County with Autumn Summers, teacher and program coordinator for the California School of Herbal Studies. Class will begin inside with a lecture and hands-on experience identifying fresh plants, cooking, and tasting the local edibles. Then we'll head out on the trails near the Dwight Center for a moderate 1-3 mile hike at a slow pace. Our focus will be on the plants available during the spring season. Instructors will cover how to identify, properly harvest, store and prepare our regional foods. We are surrounded by food and medicine if we know what to look for!
