Songs of the Soul
Our concert theme, "Songs of the Soul", explores the connection between God and mankind. A portion of the concert focuses on Advent/Christmas: We present two lovely yet different arrangements of "Ave Maria"; settings of the announcement from the Angel Gabriel to Mary of her impending pregnancy carrying God's Son, Jesus. We sing her response to the news, in the form of the "Magnificat" by Nicola Porpora and Tomas Luis de Victoria's gorgeous arrangement of "O Magnum Mysterium", a picture of the stable scene in Bethlehem. The concert then focuses on winter nights and joyful responses such as "Alleluia" by Paul Basler and "A Jubilant" song by Dello Joio . Our guest ensemble will be "The Yosemite Quintet" directed by Keith Pepper. Come for a joyous evening of song!
