West Side Stories-Respect
It's a StorySlam you don't have to tell a story, you can just come and enjoy. But, if you want to tell a story... WSS Teller Guidelines These stories should be personal narratives-this month's theme...RESPECT We want to hear your story told by you, not you telling someone else's story If you want to & only if you want to; drop your name in to tell a story 10 tellers maximum are chosen (at random). After all are heard-they are judged on sticking to the five-minute time frame, sticking to the theme and having a story that has a conflict and a resolution. Good stories have a beginning, middle & an end. Try and steer clear of meandering endings, remember, you are driving the story, and must know the final destination. All stories are told, not read, you should know your story but not by memorization. No notes, paper or cheat sheets allowed on stage. Relax, enjoy yourself. Imagine you are at a campfire, just chatting with some friends not on the witness stand. WSS is not a comedy open mic. We love funny people. We love it more, when they tell funny TRUE STORIES. No essays: Unless you can make them gripping and set up stakes, they won't work on stage. No rants: This is not therapy. Have fun!
