Valley of the Dolls Ladies' Wardrobe Screen Test (Judy Garland) / Afterparty for Judys
Date: Friday, November 13th Time: 6.30pm Admission: $8 Location: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 Third Avenue, 11215 Brooklyn NY
"You've got to climb Mount Everest to reach the Valley of the Dolls."
Artist Tara Mateik (http://www.taramateik.com/) returns to Morbid Anatomy to share his ongoing project, There's No Place, which resurrects (and perverts) the cultural legacy of L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz. The evening begins with an illustrated introduction to the project, which features a broad cast of characters and their channelers, including L. Frank Baum, Judy Garland, Victor Fleming, Sidney Lumet, Diana Ross, and Michael Jackson.
This will be followed by a live performance and film shoot, restaging Judy Garland's notorious screen test for Valley of the Dolls (1967). Featuring Mateik as director Mark Robson and the always-commanding MargOH! Channing (http://margohchanning.wix.com/fortheloveofjudy) as Garland. Now the nation's most startling and hotly discussed cult classic will be the motion picture you always wanted it to be!
The evening ends beyond the valley with a doll-fueled afterparty featuring DJ Benjamin Haber, resurrecting the spirit of the infamous and sorely-missed collective queer dance party, Judy (http://benjaminhaber.net/judy/).
Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is canceled.
