Songwriter Circle: Cal Scott and Richard Moore with special guest Jack Dwyer
Cal Scott and Richard Moore welcome multi-instrumentalist Jack Dwyer to their bi-monthly circle at O'Connor's Vault in Multnomah Village, Monday, December 14 at 7:00pm.
Raised in an Alaskan family bluegrass band and seasoned on the stages of various New York City and Hudson Valley music clubs, Portland-based performer Jack Dwyer has embraced his roots-music background and found a new voice as a talented songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. His shows move seamlessly through country classics, swing jazz, honky tonk blues, bluegrass, bouncy bayou-flavored gems, and original songs written in all of these styles. Jack's wide musical vocabulary is liable to entertain even the most multilingual sort of listener, but his joyful ramblings are balanced by a keen sense of tradition and a deep love for the more "authentic" sounds favored by musical purists. His gifts for imitation are matched with a sly sense of humor and a passion for storytelling, which always make his songs more than just reproductions. As Jack puts it, "most of the time I am trying to write what I call the C-Side... classic hits from a parallel universe."
The Circle regulars with Jack will be Cal Scott and Richard Moore, who have fine-tuned their acoustic chops together and individually over the past forty-some years. They initially joined forces as a collegiate vocal trio with tv star-to-be Markie Post, then with a rock band in the seventies, and now are four years running with the Songwriter Circle.
Discount advance tickets are $15 each from dwyercircle.brownpapertickets.com or at the door. More information from Matt Miner at 503-484-8196 or mattminermusic@gmail.com.
