The 2015 Artsville Songwriting Competition Finals
The Artsville Songwriting Competition (ASC) is a unique, year-long songwriting challenge in Hartsville, SC, consisting of 10 monthly open-mic-style events culminating in one annual single elimination tournament every November with a grand prize of $1,000!
The 2015 ASC Finals will feature 16 songwriters from around the region playing their original songs for at Black Creek Arts Council in beautiful downtown Hartsville, SC.
The group of songwriters is comprised of 10 monthly winners, plus six "wildcard" selections that have performed at ASC throughout the year. The competition runs like a single-elimination tournament, a la March Madness. The 16 songwriters are randomly assigned to a bracket. The first pair will play one song apiece, one after the other. The judges will then pick one of the songwriters to move on to the next round. We'll repeat the process until we have a winner! First prize is $1,000 and a recording package from Southern Harmony Recording Studio in Florence, SC. Second place is $500.
The songwriters will be judged on five criteria: songwriting, vocal performance, instrumental performance, stage presence, and audience response. There will be five judges.
There are three ticket levels:
General admission: $15 advance, $18 at the door. Coker faculty/staff: $10 with valid Coker ID Coker student: FREE (Limited quantities. Must present valid Coker ID at door.)
