Blue Jay Brings Back the Moon
Blue Jay, Northwest Coast Salish tribes' trickster character, who through his antics brings us laughter, pranks, and yes, even lessons. In this traditional story from the Snoqualmie people, the cunning Blue Jay ventures out to bring Snoqual the Moon, Transformer, who had been kidnapped by the Dog Salmon people and taken to the Sky world, back to Earth to help prepare for the humans to arrive.
Join Na'ah Illahee Fund, a Seattle-based Native nonprofit organization as they fill the day with Northwest Native talent. Noon to 4:30 Artist Market is free.
The evening will feature a local, sustainable meal featuring traditional native foods. Na'ah Illahee will be awarding their second annual Spirit of Indigenous Leadership award, and announcing 2015 grant awards from the Ahdanehi Indigenous Women's Giving Circle. Middle and high school students from the Gen7 Native Youth Program will be sharing their projects in computer coding and filmmaking! Enjoy music, visual and media arts--traditional and contemporary, emerging to master. Our featured artist is Joe Seymour, Squaxin Island, and other local treasuresTBA.
