Jean et Béatrice | John and Beatrice by Carole Fréchette
In her apartment on the thirty-third floor of a tower, Beatrice awaits the man who will deliver her from solitude. She puts out an ad promising a substantial reward to the man who will interest, move and seduce her. John, an experienced bounty hunter, is up to the challenge. But Beatrice increases the stakes: it actually becomes about inventing love. The apartment becomes a trap, the encounter becomes a duel. In turn, John and Beatrice depict gestures of intimacy, mimic the exchange of confidences, arguments and reconciliations, sharing the daily wear and tear of time. Each attempt is a sort of theatre-truth. Is it enough to believe in love to make it exist?
