James Reams & The Barnstormers - Bluegrass Concert in Scottsdale
Music critic Jerry Paul (former editor of Acoustica) described lead singer James Reams: "James is such an inspiration to watch. He truly feels his music, and sings from his very soul. If James is ever within your area, he is a 'must see' bluegrass icon." R&R Productions along with the Arizona Bluegrass Association are proud to present this special concert featuring the nationally-known bluegrass band, James Reams & the Barnstormers, at the Cattle Track Arts Compound Theatre in Scottsdale on Saturday, November 14th at 7:30 PM.
Discounted advance tickets can be purchased online through Brown Paper Tickets. Reserved Gold Circle seating is available. Ticket prices at the door are $20 for Gold Circle and $15 for General seating. Doors open at 7:00 PM. More information about this event is provided through Brown Paper Tickets or call 718-374-1086.
Raised in eastern Kentucky but now living in Phoenix, James Reams puts a layer of desert grit over a solid base of traditional bluegrass music. His band treads the terrain where bluegrass, old-time, classic country and rockabilly meet in the night to swap stories. These are the sounds of the hills and hollers combined with the sounds of factories, railroad yards and honky tonks.
James Reams & The Barnstormers recently appeared live on WAMU's Bluegrass Country (Washington DC) and the station had this to say about the band's performance: "You and your boys gave a fantastic performance. It's real Bluegrass, and no one can doubt that. But there's that original edge, that energy. You keep it real, because you care about the integrity of personal expression through music. If that ain't Bluegrass, I don't know what is." This kind of praise coming from a station that regularly hosts bands like Special Consensus, the Gibson Brothers, and Sierra Hull really says something about the kind of music that James Reams & The Barnstormers deliver. Video from their studio performance is available on the WAMU's Bluegrass Country YouTube channel. The Cattle Track Arts Compound is a one-of-a-kind artist colony located on the historic Cattle Track property located in north Scottsdale. Headed up by owner and arts maven Janie Ellis, the colony offers art exhibitions, artists' studios and work spaces, a colonial antique gallery, Theater performances, as well as limited-edition fine art books beautifully crafted on an old-fashioned letter press. Come out and spend the day browsing, the shops are open from 10AM to 5PM, then join us for the evening concert.
