Head of Theory at Barratt Due Institute of Music (BDM) in Oslo, Christina Kobb has recently skyrocketed to international attention due to her groundbreaking research into the little explored field of romantic period performance practice. Equally lauded in academia and performance, Kobb's spent years dedicated to incredibly detailed study of romantic keyboard treatises, reconstructing historical piano technique. Her discoveries resulted in an array of new possibilities for interpretation and musical expression that took musicologists by storm. (See the recent feature article about her work in The New York Times.)
