TIM GRIMM in concert

Among today's singer-songwriters, Tim Grimm is a true "Rennaisance man," with impressive achievements in the theater, television and music. For nearly two decades, he has blended his love for songwriting and singing with a passion to bring stories to life on the stage and screen. But wherever his talents have taken him  to Hollywood sound stages, repertory theater companies in Chicago, New York and Indianapolis, music and art festivals in Wildflower, Fox Valley and Pawtucket, or to sing in countless coffeehouses around America, Tim's heart remains firmly planted in the rich farmlands and vanishing landscapes of rural America. The son of schoolteachers and grandson of farmers, Tim's songs are filled with rural rumblings that have shaped his life  rich with descriptive details and sung with warmth and intimacy. After pursuing an MFA in Theater at the University of Michigan, he moved east and became active in the vibrant theater-scene in New York, and later Chicago. With a few guitar lessons under his belt, he began hanging out at The Old Town School of Folk Music and soon formed his own band, Tim Grimm and The Truehearts. But the acting bug never stopped biting, and roles in films like Backdraft and Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford, and a two-year stint co-starring with Mark Harmon and Marlee Maitlin in NBC's Reasonable Doubts never kept him far from the music he loved.

His albums have brought him admirers among critics and audiences and won him praise from The Chicago Sun-Times (2000's "Best Discovery in Roots/Americana Music") to his being named "2004 Male Artist of the Year" by the Freeform American Roots DJs. His recording The Back Fields was named Best Americana Album in the 2006 Just Plain Folks Music Awards in L.A. Critics searching for comparisons most often cite Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie and (Nebraska era) Bruce Springsteen.
