GAEL FAURE
Gaël Faure est l'un de ces artistes qui ne laissent pas indifférent. Ses mélodies à la frontière de la folk, de la pop et de la soul chantent les grands espaces. Avec une énergie brute et des compositions authentiques, ses chansons se distinguent de par leur fraicheur et leur sincérité.
Artiste autodidacte, il achète sa première guitare à 14 ans après un concert de Louise Attaque près de chez lui en Ardèche (France).. Ensuite, il trouve rapidement sa voix : une participation à un concours télévisé (La Nouvelle Star), puis il multiplie les premières parties avec par exemple Michel Jonasz ou encore Barcella, collabore avec de nombreux artistes dont Tété et en 2014, sort son premier album De Silences en Bascules .
Cet album est un appel au voyage, au rêve, à l'évasion. Il suffit de clore ses yeux pour se laisser transporter dans un univers de sonorités singulières semé de mystères sensibles et séduisants.
Après une centaine de représentations en France, en Belgique et au Canada, Gaël Faure s'appropriera le samedi 14 novembre la scène du Studio 1398, sur Granville Island, dans le cadre de la soirée spéciale ''Coup de cœur francophone sur la France''.
JOSHUA MINSKY
Originaire de New York, Joshua Minsky a grandi à Vancouver et passé douze ans à sillonner l'Europe, toujours la guitare à la main, jouant du jazz, du rock, de la soul et du funk, selon l'occasion ou l'envie. De retour à Vancouver en 1996, il met sur pied un répertoire de chanson française classique qu'il interprète avec un timbre incomparable, simplement accompagné d'une guitare, d'une contrebasse et d'un saxophone.
Personnage charismatique à la voix chaude et à l'allure de dandy, Joshua Minsky se livre sur scène à de véritables performances d'athlète. Le public de Vancouver a déjà pu apprécier son talent lors du Coup de cœur francophone de Vancouver de novembre 2002.
Depuis, Joshua a en autre participé au concert T'as voulu voir Vancouver , un hommage à Jacques Brel, au Waterfront Theater, qui a été retransmis sur les ondes de Radio-Canada et à un hommage à Edith Piaf au Arts Club Theatre. Gagnant du Prix de la presse au Pacifique en chanson 2008, il a offert une prestation au Diner en blanc de Vancouver en 2013.
Serge Gainsbourg, Charles Trenet, Georges Brassens, Edith Piaf sont quelques-uns des grands noms qui émailleront sa prestation de ce samedi 14 novembre à 20h, en première partie de la soirée Coup de cœur francophone sur la France . GAEL FAURE
Gaël Faure is one of those artists who leave an indelible impression. His melodies blend elements of folk, pop and soul and his lyrics inhabit wide-open spaces. His original compositions are characterised by their raw energy, freshness and sincerity.
A self-taught musician, he bought his first guitar at the age of 14 after attending a performance by Louise Attaque near his home town in Ardèche (France). As he recalls: "I loved the wood, the nylon strings. I struggled to find the chords, one by one. And I discovered that there are no set codes, that everything is possible". Before long, he found his voice as well. He took part in a televised competition ("La Nouvelle Star"), and went on to do openings for artists like Michel Jonasz and Barcella, and shared the stage with the likes of Tété. In 2014, he released his first album "De Silences en Bascules".
This recording is an invitation to travel, to dream, and to escape. You only have to close your eyes to be transported into a universe of strange sounds full of sensuous and enchanting mysteries.
After at least a hundred performances in France, Belgium and Canada, Gael Faure will make a special appearance at the ''Coup de cœur francophone sur la France" on Saturday, November 14, on the Studio 1398 stage on Granville Island.
JOSHUA MINSKY
New York-born, Joshua Minsky grew up in Vancouver. An inveterate traveller, he spent twelve years exploring Europe, guitar in hand, playing jazz, rock, soul or funk according to his mood. By the time of his return here in 1996, he had developed a wide repertoire of classic French songs perfectly suited to his deep seductive voice.
Joshua Minsky's performance on stage is imbued with charisma and world-elegance. Vancouver's audience enjoyed a sampling of his interpretative talents in November 2002 as part of the Coup de coeur francophone.
Since then Joshua has performed, amongst other, at the concert "T'as voulu voir Vancouver," a tribute to Jacques Brel at the Waterfront Theatre, which was broadcasted by CBC Radio Canada, and again in a tribute to Edith Piaf at the Arts Club Theatre. Winner of the Critics Award at the "Pacifique En Chanson" in 2008, he performed at Vancouver's Diner en blanc in 2013.
