Mythic Medicine
Mythic Medicine is an engaging mix of KaZimba Ngoma (African Martial Arts) and storytelling: learn through movement and mindfulness to find the power in your own personal narrative, using your mythic imagination to embody archetypal qualities as resources for your own development.
Experience a powerful short story by Sola Adebiyi an Ndugu from the KaZimba tradition introducing this unique approach.
In this 'hero's journey' you can expect to embark on a physical and 'imaginal' voyage incorporating transformations through KaZimba animal styles and four elements. You will creatively learn a movement mindfulness technique and simple storytelling template to bring 'Mythic Medicine' to key aspects of your own life.
The workshop culminates in a unique, drumming, singing, dance like interaction allowing the bringing out of lessons learned and their expression in the ceremony of Ngoma
Participants are asked to wear loose clothing and will not be pushed beyond their physical limits. Participants should please advise of any ailments or infirmities before the session.
Sola Adebiyi also known as KuuM'ba is a qualified KaZimba Teacher (Ndugu) and has been teaching this unique style since 2001. Growing up in a Yoruba (from Nigeria) household Sola learned stories and proverbs from his family which became the root soil leading to his relational approach through storytelling as inspiration for creative and dynamic personal investigation.
Places for this workshop are limited and booking is essential.
Mythic Medicine forms part of CoResist's new season Rights of Nature, Rights of the Human, in honour of Black History Month.
