Come learn how to make cheese with us!
Together we will make beautiful soft ripened goat cheeses, goat milk feta, and butter made with cow's cream over the course of a full day. You will spend the day with award winning cheesemaker, Amelia Sweethardt, on the farm making cheese and discussing cheesemaking and goats.
In this hands on cheesemaking class, we will lead you through the the cheesemaking process. You will culture the milk, add rennet, cut the curd, drain the whey, and scoop and pour the curd. At the end of the day you will take your cheeses and cheese molds home and finish the curing and ripening processes. The goal is to help you confidently make your own cheese at home by showing you how we do it here.
We start the day with cheesemaking, break for a beautiful lunch, get back to the cheesemaking, then later in the day we will head over to the dairy to hand milk one of our delightful dairy goats, visit with our herd of friendly dairy goats, guardian dogs, and the stinky bucks! Then you will be able to drop in to the parlor to watch the evening milking.
We will eat well, laugh, milk goats, and make cheese. We love sharing the farm and teaching workshops, it's a wonderful experience to spend a day at Pure Luck.
