Not the Last Goodbye
Not the Last Goodbye
What is a good death? How can we be empowered by the challenge of trying to die "well", while losing the medical battle? How can we prepare for death while we're still healthy?
Renowned psychiatrist and international bestselling author, Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, shared in his latest book, Not The Last Goodbye, his experience of living through a grave illness and his state of mind as he faced death. As a specialist in care for the terminally ill, an advocate of patient empowerment, and a 19 year brain cancer survivor, Dr. Servan-Schreiber's testimony is uniquely authoritative. He candidly discusses the daily trials of being gravely ill, how he found spiritual solace, and how to remain "in life" until the end.
Dr. Servan-Schreiber died peacefully last July, surrounded by friends and family, while listening to his favourite music as he had wished and planned.
His brother, Franklin, will be presenting the book and will share the lessons he learned from being a care giver to his brother.
About Franklin Servan-Schreiber Franklin Servan-Schreiber was, along with his two brothers, the primary caregiver to David during the last year of his life, from medical decision to comfort care. All three brothers were by David's side during his first brain cancer surgery 19 years ago, and they remained intimately involved in his search for a more holistic approach to fighting cancer. Franklin was the instigator for David to write AntiCancer, as well as Not The Last Goodbye.
