When it comes to food we often ask ourselves how do we weigh different attributes of our food choices: organic, fair trade, locally grown, lowest carbon footprint, least packaged and processed? Ideally, we look for food that meets all of these values. Network member, Organically Grown Companys mission is to promote health through organic agriculture as a leading sustainable organization. Organically Grown Company (OGC) distributes organic produce to stores, co-ops and restaurants within the I-5 corridor from Ashland, Oregon to Bellingham, Washington. The company operates three distribution centers and employs 140 people. OGC is accomplishing its mission internally through integrating sustainability practices in its everyday operations as well as externally in sponsoring and leading activities of the Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Program. Josh Hinerfeld and Natalie Reitman-White will present on the full integration of sustainability into a business that is focused on distribution of organic agriculture.
