LAI April Luncheon
What does sustainability mean today to investors and developers? While it is commonly accepted that building and operating green is a good investment, investors increasingly want to see a broader definition of sustainability that addresses environmental concerns to social, governance and risk levels of the project as well as how each of these factors impacts owners, lenders and tenants. The panel will address green investments and equity as well as green opportunities and debt in the context of project development and implementation.
Moderated by Roy Schneiderman, CFRE, FRICS. Roy is principal and founder of Bard Consulting focusing on strategic real estate consulting services and institutional investors including the California State Teachers Retirement System and the California Public Employees Retirement System; member of the National Council on Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries and the Pension Real Estate Association.
Panelists: Gary Holtzer and Nancy Wallace. Gary is the Managing Director and Global Sustainability Officer at Hines. Gary coordinates Hines' worldwide sustainability efforts including strategy and oversight as well as property management operations for Hines' east region. Nancy is Professor of Real Estate, Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley; Chair, Real Estate Group and Co-Chair Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics.; visiting scholar San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank. Nancy's teaching and research focus includes: asset-backed securitization, real estate investment analysis, real estate finance, microstructure models of mortgage and asset-backed securities.
