Confluence/Influence: A Composer/Choreographer Pairing
The Seattle Jazz Composers Ensemble has joined forces with Karin Stevens Dance to produce
an evening of new work created through an idiosyncratic Composer/Choreographer pairing.
Four composers have been paired with four choreographers to generate the new work, together,
from the ground up. Unlike most collaborations between the mediums of music &
dance, the works created through this project do not start with either medium independent of
the other. Instead the artists create the entirety of the work alongside each other conceiving,
sculpting, and developing their creation side by side. Through this highly in-depth process,
each work will become something else entirely not music for dance, or dance with music, but
rather a more holistic synthesis of the two.
