Part of GLOBAL SOUNDSCAPES: NOTES FROM THE ARAXES BASIN
The flagship concert of the VICO's 2016 Notes From the Araxes Basin Festival of Middle Eastern music, featuring the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra with visiting guest artists Gevorg Dabaghyan (duduk), Neva Özgen (kemençe), members of Montreal trio Constantinople and other guests, all under the baton of guest conductor Artyom Kim.
The programme includes the world premieres of two concerti by Mark Armanini and Farshid Samandari featuring visiting artists on duduk, kemençe and setar as well as compositions by Moshe Denburg, Artyom Kim and John Oliver, in addition to traditional pieces from Turkey, Armenia and Iran.
