Wayne De La Cruz: Bay area native Wayne De La Cruz is an extraordinary and versatile keyboardist with a true ability to make the music happen in any situation. In addition to performing as a sideman and band leader since 1973, he has recorded, arranged, composed and produced as well. Over the years he has gained a reputation and is in high demand for his Hammond B-3 organ expertise as well as his piano and multi-keyboard ability. His jazz organ group "The Big Trio" plays a variety of styles from easy Swing, Be-Bop and Latin to Funk and Down Home Blues and has become a favorite back up band for many vocalist and instrumentalist in the area. Wayne has performed shows as accompanist with Maria Muldaur, Joe Louis Walker, Mary Wells, The Mills Bros, Jackie King (jazz guitarist), Mimi Fox (jazz guitarist), Terri Lynn Carrington (jazz drummer) and Allison Miller (jazz drummer).
Steve Czarnecki's SOUL/JAZZ QUINTET is based on the premise that if any music doesn't prominently feature the sound of the Hammond B3, it's probably not worth listening to. In view of this fact, we have assembled some great musicians into a wonderful five piece group playing the classic soul/jazz repertoire of artists like Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff and Jimmy McGriff. We also toss in many original tunes and updated versions of classic grooves. Our line up consists of: Nate Pruitt vocals, Steve Czarnecki organ, Mike Renwick /Bill Schrey - guitars,Bob Johnson sax,Dan Sabanovich drums
Wil Blades : Wil Blades, singled out by Downbeat critics as a "rising star" among jazz organists in a recent issue of the magazine, will bring his quartet to San Franciscos Jazz At Pearls Thursday, Nov. 29th. Along with Blades on the Hammond B-3, the quartet includes some the Bay Areas finest young talent. The performance at Jazz At Pearls, one of San Franciscos premier jazz clubs, celebrates the release of Blades' debut album, Sketchy, on the Doodlin Records label. The new CD features Idris Muhammad Dayna Stephens, Will Bernard, Gabe Eaton and Mike Rinta. Jazz Organ master, Dr. Lonnie Smith, says "Yeah, he does it...he's on it. He is the future to carry on the legend, the legacy of the organ, [of] the B-3." Wil has kept the traditional sounds of Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, and "Groove" Holmes alive while creating a more personal, modern sound. His playing is rhythmic, funky and bluesy, yet his original compositions are harmonically intriguing and unique.
Current musical collaborations include groups with guitarist Will Bernard, Jazz legend Idris Muhammad and a duo project with drummer Scott Amendola. Wil has
