How a TV Writer Learned to Write Fiction -- Lawrence Levy
If you've ever dreamed of doing something different later in life, you'll certainly be inspired by Lawrence H. Levy, who will tell us how he went from writing for comedy to writing a historical mystery novel. He has written for such TV shows as Seinfeld, Roseanne, Family Ties, Saved By The Bell, Fantasy Island and many others.
He has won a Writer's Guild award and has garnered two Emmy nominations. He will talk about his debut book, Second Street Station, the first in a series of historical mysteries featuring Mary Handley, the first female detective in Brooklyn, and do two short readings from it. He will also discuss his TV career, what it is like to work as a writer for television, and how he came to transitioning from acclaimed TV writer to historical fiction novelist.
This course is presented jointly by Lifelong Learners of the Central Coast and Congregation Beth David of San Luis Obispo. A reception will follow the lecture that includes refreshments & a cash bar.
Sunday, November 1, 2015, 4pm-6pm Congregation Beth David in SLO
