Opera ARMIDA
To be seduced by Armida is to be transported to her magical and fantastic realms. She is diabolic. She is vengeful, seductive and beautiful, and will come to life in the thrilling new opera by Igor Konyukhov making it's world premiere at the historic and majestic Angel Orensanz Foundation on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
The Baroque Opera Repertoire includes hundreds of works, of which only a fraction have been performed in concerts, and even less in theatrical settings. This project is dedicated to the baroque operatic repertoire and intends to further the opportunities to perform this vast and fascinating genre. Igor Konyukhov introduces Opera Armida to you after a year long undertaking. International cast and team of collaborators will bring you into the world of Baroque opera.
Opera Armida will present some of the most beautiful and rarely performed musical pieces from over ten different operas and oratorios rooted in the Baroque era (F.Handel, A.Vivaldi and others). They will be presented with innovative musical numbers bound by a story paralleled of love, and seamlessly connected with themes of rejection, fate and repentance.
