Jerry van Eyck of !melk presented by Space.City
5:oo pm - Complimentary Happy Hour 6:oo pm - Lecture by Jerry Van Eyck
At the Seattle Public Library Auditorium (Central Branch)
!melk is a landscape architecture and urban design practice dedicated to large-scale urban and landscape interventions as well as public spaces and gardens, with deliberate references to local context, history, urban setting and surrounding ecology. Factoring the social and political environment in the creative process, !melk projects make spaces of wonder that sustain themselves and engage their communities. There is no set formula for the design of place, rather an inherent optimism and belief in the intrinsic identity of each site and city.
Founded in 2010 by landscape architect Jerry Van Eyck and urban designer Evan Rose, !melk is formed from a 10-year collaboration on a variety of innovative projects such as the Wharf District in Boston, Port of Los Angeles San Pedro, and Governors Island in New York.
!melk co-founder Jerry Van Eyck is a former partner and principal of West 8 urban design & landscape architecture BV, based in the Netherlands and the former co-founder of West 8 New York.
